Product DescriptionSmart Power Surge Strip, 7 outlet, gray surge protector with 6' cord automatically shuts Off computer peripherals, reduces energy consumption by $36 per year, pays for itself in just a few months. 1200 joules with $100,000 connected equipment warranty. TrProduct Features* Patented energy saving technology* Cuts power to computer or TV peripherals saving- * energy & money; pays for itself saving energy * 6 regular outlets & 1 adapter spaced outlet * Automatic shut down protection Customer ReviewsRated I got this in hopes of auto-powering a bank of USB hard drives connected to a Popcorn Hour C-200 Media Receiver, but even with an internal 2.5" drive installed, the PCH just doesn't draw enough power for this power strip to detect when its on and thus never triggered the slave receptacles. I tried the adjustment knob to no avail. It works just fine with my AV receiver to auto-power my sub-woofer, so that's its new found home. I bought an EcoStrip (available through Amazon, BTW) which uses a separate USB plug to determine when a USB-equipped device is powered on and it worked perfectly with the PCH. FYI, this is just a "re-labeled" (and also a bit more expensive) Bits Unlimited Smart Strip, but I preferred the darker grey color of the Coleman version to better integrate aesthetically with my AV equipment.
