on 2008-11-30Good quality, it definitely stopped the draft in my main leaky window, but I thought it was overpriced a bit. Also I sent one back (a month ago) because it did not fit the other window and haven't received my refund yet.

on 2007-11-27I would reduce my rating to four stars simply because I expected the item to be heavier--therefore easier to put in place--and a bit slimmer, but the construction is really excellent quality and it works better than I expected once actually receiving it.
I thought it would be basically a big long beanbag, but actually it's more like a pillow that's slightly weighted in three spots. The weights are too light, but if you give them a bit of a press the beads will better keep the item in place at the base of your door. If they were heavier I imagine the item would wear out pretty quickly from sliding while opening the door and pushing it back in place.
And though I expected an air tight seal, the fact is the bulk of the item and the materials block the drafts exceptionally well. No breeze is getting through this thing as it would if it were filled with a heavier but less insulating material--such as dry rice or beads. We have two of them, and it blocks the actual wind that blows under the back door as well as it keeps the warm air in at the front.
In addition, it has a velvet rope loop at the end for hanging it from your doorknob when not placed at the bottom of the door.
BOTTOM LINE: At $20 plus shipping, I was a bit leary of making this purchase and upon receiving it I thought I might be sending it back for want of something heavier and perhaps smaller, but now that I have it I can say it's priced, sized, and weighted just right. Of course I'd be happier if it were $15 or $10, but the $20 price tag is not unreasonable.
I imagine we'll be using this to save on air conditioning in the summertime as well as keeping those chilling drafts out during the winter.
I can't help but give this item five stars.

on 2007-05-08It's well made, but a little too long for my door. Maybe my entry door is non-standard, it's possible, it's an old house, but it doesn't seem like it. But my bigger complaint is that this thing is only weighted at 3 points, the ends and the middle. At first I thought this clever, but now I'm realizing it's not much better than using a towel, as I have been doing. It just doesn't hold it down, the wind comes in under the door and actually moves it just enough to get by. Also, the stuffing they use between the weighted areas seems to let some air through as well. It is better than a towel, certainly looks a lot better, but not by a whole lot.

on 2007-05-06I bought the Draft Dodger for my mom because the one she had was leaking its stuffing! Since I knew winter wasn't over, I ordered this one for her and it was a big hit. Nice size, nice quality and does its job.
